• Landscape & Garden Design

We can co-ordinate your project from start to finish or we can provide a design only service. All our gardens and landscapes are individually tailored to clients needs and the specific site.

We work closely with you to provide the best design solution, starting with a consultation to discuss the scope of the project, how you want to use the space, style choices and any likes or dislikes.

This is also an opportunity for us to see the site and take some initial photographs and outline measurements. After the consultation we send you a design proposal based on our discussions for you to agree.

  • Planting Design

We can provide a planting plan for your whole garden or a single border, advising on plants that suit your space, taste and maintenance requirements.

We believe in ‘right plant, right place’ and will always take light levels, soil type, available moisture and shelter into account to create a planting scheme that thrives year round. You can choose to plant the garden yourself or use our plant sourcing and planting service.

We are happy to work with architects, developers or private clients who may have a design and builders for the garden layout, but want a professional horticulturalist to design and install the planting.

  • Garden Styling & Rejuvenation

Sometimes you don’t need a full redesign, but a little thoughtful redefining of the space and the addition of sculptural furniture or planters can make a big difference.

We will work with your existing mature plants, shaping and pruning your existing garden whilst adding new planting in key areas to give your garden space new life.

We offer a tailored design process for each client where the following work phases can be provided separately or all together, depending on your needs.

As a guide, my design charges start at £450. A medium sized Cambridge domestic garden is likely to cost in the region of £30,000 + VAT to build with full design services charged at around 15% of the construction cost. This is a very rough guide as costs (both to build and to design) vary relative to size, complexity and the ratio of hard to soft landscaping.

1_Survey, Analysis & Client Brief

Along with an accurate topographical survey of the existing garden, every project starts with time spent getting to know the atmosphere and mood of the place and the specific needs of the client. Catriona will undertake a detailed site analysis & drawing up of the design brief together with you.

2_Concept Design

Informed by the client brief and analysis, we put together an outline design proposal for your new garden. Presented as a sketch plan supported by mood boards and perspective drawings.

3_Masterplan, Design Detail & Planting Plan

Once you are happy with the outline design proposal, we produce a final landscape masterplan drawing which refines the agreed layout design of your new garden. This stage may involve working closely with specialist makers / engineers / architects on bespoke elements of your garden. Planting mood boards and a final detailed planting plan are prepared. We develop to detail a package of working drawings to share with landscape contractors and prepare the cost estimate.

4_Choosing a landscaper & processing quotes

We can recommend a suitable landscape contractor once the design is completed or manage the tender process on your behalf. The construction package is prepared during the tender stage of the project.

5_Project Monitoring

Contractor co-ordination and close supervision of all aspects of the construction, planting and styling of your garden.

6_Planting

Plants are sourced from specialist nurseries and growers to ensure strong healthy specimens.

7_Completion & Aftercare

Once the project is complete and reviewed with the client, initial and after care advice is available for an agreed period of time.

A full service from the first meeting through to visiting to confirm that the construction is complete is an investment to create a beautiful, carefully considered garden that will provide enjoyment for many years to come.
